Ode to Sickness

A Sonnet about being sick.

Sickness
Sickness

My dark sickness, you inspire me to write.

How I hate the way you disable,

Invading my mind day and through the night,

Always dreaming about the stark operating table.

Let me compare you to a nonmember?

You are more piercing, petty and draining.

Blue winds shake the leaves of September,

And autumntime has the overtraining.

How do I hate you? Let me count the ways.

I hate your infections, cells, and pains.

Thinking of your medicine fills my days.

My hate for you is the keen printmaker.

Now I must depart with a vicious heart,

Remember my black words when were apart
